Printing Suggestions, to save time and paper

To save time and paper, I recommend following the steps below (generally, in this order)
  1. Start with a printable negative. Ask instructor for opinion.
  2. Start with #2 or #2-1/2 contrast filter
  3. Use test strip to optimize exposure
  4. Determine best contrast with different filters
  5. Always view the print in white light when determining best exposure and contrast
  6. The print may darken somewhat when dry ("dry-down")
  7. Dodge and burn only after the above steps have been completed
  8. Keep your variation prints... don't throw prints away unless they are far off.
