- Start with a printable negative. Ask instructor for opinion.
- Start with #2 or #2-1/2 contrast filter
- Use test strip to optimize exposure
- Determine best contrast with different filters
- Always view the print in white light when determining best exposure and contrast
- The print may darken somewhat when dry ("dry-down")
- Dodge and burn only after the above steps have been completed
- Keep your variation prints... don't throw prints away unless they are far off.
